The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) is a state corporation established by an Act of Parliament; the Persons with Disabilities Act No. 14 of 2003 and set up in November 2004. 

ECITIZEN SELF REGISTRATION FOR PWDS

Did you know that you can now register as a Person with Disability in the comfort of your home without visiting the disability office?

 Requirements 

(i). A disability Medical Assessment Report from a government gazetted hospital signed by the County Director of Medical Services 

(ii). National ID for a person over 18yrs or Birth Certificate for minors.

Procedure:

1. Visit www.ecitizen.go.ke and sign in or register if you’re not registered on ecitizen.

2. Under Agencies click ‘ View all Agencies’. 

3. On the search bar that appears ‘ search agency ‘, type ncpwd and search.

4.  You should see the National Council Council for Persons with Disabilities ; click on it to  access services. 

5. Click on, ‘ Register as a Person with Disability.

6. Read the instructions and complete the online registration form by uploading the documents as provided for in the form. 

7. Check the box at the end of the form to give consent and click, Preview to see the summary  of the information you have given.

8. Click Complete to submit the form for verification and approval. 

9. On approval, you will receive an SMS from ecitizen with your application number and link to access your registration certificate.

Benefits of Being Registered with NCPWD

The NCPWD registers persons with disability. Once registered a person accrues the following benefits

The program seeks to enhance the capacities of care givers through cash transfers and as such, improve the livelihoods of persons with severe disabilities as well as reduce negative impact of disability on households.

The National Development Fund for Persons with Disabilities (NDFPWD) supports the provision of Assistive Devices and Services to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kenya to enable these individuals to function in society. The Fund gives priority to those individuals requiring assistance to function in a learning, training or work environment.

The Fund provides grants to Community and Self Help Groups for Economic Empowerment or Revolving Fund Schemes.

This program aims to improve persons with disabilities enrolment, retention and completion of education cycle for the eventual engagement in decent and gainful employment. NDFPWD provides support to persons with disabilities from Primary, Secondary, Colleges, Vocational Training Schools and University.

The Council has been implementing the National Persons with Albinism Sunscreen Support Program that is providing sunscreen lotions to over 3,026 persons with albinism.

PWD can register with the Job Placement Portal to access vacant job opportunities with the NCPWD’s partners.

The aim of the AGPO program is to facilitate the enterprises owned by women, youth and persons with disabilities to be able to participate in Government opportunities. This is will be made possible through the implementation of the legal requirement that 30% of Government procurement opportunities be set aside specifically for enterprises owned by these groups.

The Persons with Disabilities (income Tax Deductions and Exemptions) Order, 2010. The law exempts PLWD from paying taxes for monthly earnings of Sh150,000 and below and Sh1.8 million annual income from organizations owned by people with disability.

The PWD are exempted from payment of user fees in all GoK facilities.

To accord employees (PWD) a longer working period with guaranteed earnings as a way of cushioning them against the uncertainties usually associated with retirement from formal employment.

Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority (KHOPA)

The Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority (KHOPA) ensures the quality and integrity of health professions through regulation, oversight, and accreditation, safeguarding public health 

KHOPA is responsible for licensing and registering health professionals, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, and other allied health practitioners. Through a rigorous process of evaluation and assessment, KHOPA ensures that these professionals meet the required qualifications, knowledge, and skills necessary to deliver safe and effective healthcare services.

Kenya INstitute of curriculum development

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) was established by the Government of Kenya on the 14th of January 2013 under an Act of Parliament- Act No.4 of 2013.

It also evaluates vets and approves the curricular and curriculum support materials for basic and tertiary education, as well as offering curriculum based consultancy services in basic and tertiary education and training.
